Thaiboy Digital is evolving.

The Legendary Member has been on a historic decade-long run since his arrival in the mid-2010s as part of Sweden’s fabled Drain Gang and Sad Boys. Deftly interwoven into the fabric of internet lore that forms the foundations of modern electronic and experimental rap, Thaiboy Digital is now evolving into his next form.

Thaiboy Digital (born Thanapat Thaothawong) is a rapper, singer, and designer. Few artists embody the shapeshifting, borderless spirit of rap and electronic music’s dizzying marriage as much as him. With roots in Bangkok, Northern Thailand and Stockholm, fluent in four languages and influences as wide as Basshunter, Chief Keef and Tony Igy, Thaiboy Digital and his DJ alter ego, DJ Billybool, traverse the cultural vortex of our digital ether like few others.

Now in 2025, Thaiboy Digital is pushing the boundaries of his artistic identity, blending EDM, Eurotrance and Stadium Rap into the dizzying mix of his sonic cocktail.

Born in Thailand in 1994, Thaiboy Digital moved to Stockholm as a child and became part of its now legendary underground rap scene. Alongside Yung Lean, Bladee, Ecco2k, Whitearmor and Yung Sherman, he helped shape Drain Gang’s signature sound—melding cloud rap, electronic abstraction, and Auto-Tune-driven melodies.

Thaiboy’s seminal debut album, Tiger (2014), still stands as one of the purest manifestations of the early Drain Gang vision. Recorded under the stress of his pending immigration case whilst staying with Whitearmor, Tiger is a perfect crystallisation of Thaiboy Digital’s URL bravado.  The opening run of “Haters Broke”, “Diamonds” and Gtblessgo” is still revered from subreddits to club smoking areas, Stockholm to Shanghai.

In 2015, Thaiboy was forced to leave Sweden due to those immigration issues, relocating to Bangkok. Despite this, he remained an active member of Drain Gang, recording and collaborating from afar. AvP (2016) and D&G (2017) remain perfect monuments to that era.

It was also around this time that Thaiboy Digital moved from the forums to the stages, touring relentlessly with Yung Lean, Bladee and Ecco2k. Historic tours such as the Warlord world tour (2016), Stranger North American tour (2019), DG4L World Tour (2022), the now mythical sold out Drain Gang shows at the London Kentish Town Forum and the LA Hollywood Palladium, the festival appearances at Coachella, Primavera and CTM Festival, cemented Thaiboy Digital’s stage reputation of pure explosive bravado, the arrowhead of Drain Gang’s sonic phalanx live. In his compatriot Bladee’s words: “Thaiboy Goon shake the room”.

His eponymous album, Legendary Member (2019) is arguably his magnum opus, showcased his ability to intermingle futuristic, melodic rap with deftly woven instrumentals. Tracks like “Nervous” and “IDGAF” are a testament to Thaiboy Digital’s versatility – vocally and emotionally.

Legendary Member landed alongside the crown jewel in the Drain Gang catalogue, Trash Island (2019), a perfect distillation of a decade long sonic dialogue between Thaiboy Digital, Bladee and Ecco2k. Trash Island holds special weight in the way it was crafted, with the whole of Drain Gang spending time in Thailand with Thaiboy Digital to record it.

After a few years of frenetic tour, Back 2 Life (2022) was the victory lap, heralded by the anthemic “I’m Fresh”. The album sees Thaiboy Digital settling into the 2020s, embracing the challenges and rewards of fatherhood, both in the literal sense and the metaphorical sense – as he took on the mantle of raising children, and being the godfather of a new generation of post-internet rap experimentalists.
