SuperKiss B

‘SuperKiss: B’ is the finale in the SuperKiss series from Malaysian artist, Shelhiel. The EP depicts a hyperreal Pop vista, with its 5 tracks embodying the grounded, fruitful reality of the other side of ascension.

Alongside a cast of collaborators from across East & South-East Asia, including jobroseph, Mulan Theory, Cayenne and phritz, SuperKiss: B introduces another dimension to Shelhiel’s eclectic and intoxicating blend of club sounds and his heartthrob pop persona.

The SuperKiss series centres around the duality of Shelhiel. SuperKiss A was a transitory phase; exploring the narrative of a celestial being grounding to reality. The world alludes to a grounded yet transcendent perspective of romance, inviting viewers to contemplate the profound connection between the ethereal and the tangible. Superkiss: B is the next stage, a fruitful reality.

SuperKiss: B comes straight off the back of Shelhiel’s SuperKiss world tour - which saw his UK debut performance at Eastern Margins’ Margins United festival, and stops in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing & Singapore.

First lead single ‘Love Gamer’ epitomises the cross-cultural aspect of Shelhiel’s creative vision: as he proclaims himself Mr. Asia on the glitched out single. But it’s a title that’s much deserved, as the track cycles through a TikTok feed’s worth of native electronic mutations, taking in Funkot, Jedag Jedug, Budots and Manyao influences.

‘what if’ follows as the second single, a collaboration with J-Pop 2.0 producer phritz. The track sees both artists explore the hypotheticals, of romance, of existence, atop an Alternative Bass sound.

‘Softman’ is SuperKiss: B’s beating heart - a hazy, heart-on-sleeve ballad that sees Shelhiel team up with Malaysian Creator jobroseph for the latter’s debut single. No more crying in the club; this one’s for everyone who’s shed a tear in the KTV booth.
